Ballet is a very structured and technical movement class that includes working on the ballet barre, graceful, fluid movements across the floor and a great deal of jumps and leaps. Technique is a very important part of the ballet class. Focus and hard work is a key element for this class. Different styles of music are used to help in creativity and the performance of movements. Students will also learn dance improvisation, dance terminology, dance history, dance making skills, anatomy and use of the muscles, dance literacy, nutrition, dance projects and performance tasks.

The instructors are not only educators, but also artists, that believe students can experience education beyond the classroom through dance. They strive to engage students in a life affecting experience that increases cultural competencies, embraces community, emanates wellness, and ignites a passion for lifelong learning.

In order to be enrolled in this course, most students audition in the 5th, 6th, or 7th grades.

This class performs in both the Winter and Spring Concerts.
