Loss in the Schuyler Family

Dear I.S. 383 Parents/Guardians,

I am writing to inform you that one of our beloved teachers, Mr. Lindrick Outerbridge, has recently passed away. The school will be sharing this information with our students, Monday, April 19, 2021 and Tuesday, April 20, 2021, but we wanted to notify our families and make you aware of the situation. Mr. Outerbridge and his family are in our thoughts.

We know how difficult this news is for our school community. Although in-person and remote classroom instruction will continue as always, I anticipate that the coming days and weeks will be particularly difficult for everyone. We have professionals who are trained to help with the needs of our students, parents and school personnel during difficult times. Our school’s crisis team and school counselors will be available to provide counseling for any student or staff member who may need or want help surrounding this news. Team members will check-in with students and staff to provide support and resources. Please encourage your child to maintain his or her good attendance and make use of counseling services, if need be, and also provide your child with special understanding and support during this difficult time.

If you wish to speak with someone about your child, then please feel free reach out to me, school counselor Wendy Freire, WFreire@schools.nyc.gov, or to another staff member. We also encourage you to visit the DOE’s crisis page, https://www.schools.nyc.gov/school-life/special-situations/crisis-or-traumatic-event, for additional resources.

Thank you for your understanding and support during this difficult time.

Sincerely,

Jeanette Wigdorsky

Principal
