The New York State Education Department (NYSED) submitted a formal request to the U.S. Department of Education (USDOE) to waive state testing requirements at the elementary, middle and high school levels. Pending a decision from the USDOE regarding the waiver request, NYSED has shared a tentative plan so that school can prepare to proceed with Spring test administrations including NYS Grades 3-8 ELA and Math.

Please note the following important information about state exams:

1. If exam administration occurs, they will be school-based and in person.
2. Students receiving full-time remote instruction are not expected to come into a school building to participate in test administration, however, if remote families would like their students to participate in the assessment, we are asking REMOTE ONLY families to complete the following interest survey by Friday April 8, 2021: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSc8Gs6sEmQS0tMZVV82ZJxA0U_qr8AoZYZyBm3ckEhHymTrWA/viewform
3. Tentative testing window for ELA is April 19th -April 29th and tentative testing window for Math is May 3 -May 14.

More details about testing will be shared when we receive updates from New York City Department of Education and New York State Education Department.
